JULIE MEESE  ARBSA

I am inspired by the natural world around me, especially coastal and rural subjects. The subjects that fascinate me are those that are there for a short time before nature or man rearranges them. The passing of time is key in much of my work, I want you to stop and take the time to look and visually explore subject matter which often goes unnoticed.

The contrast between light and dark is important and I enjoy spending time to achieve a soft tonal quality in my work. I often use photography to capture my chosen image before taking it through a selection process of cropping, refinement and enhancement before translating it into finely detailed graphite drawings or oil paintings. Some works are available as greeting cards.

I am an elected Associate Member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. My work has been published and I exhibit in the West Midlands. I am a RBSA award winner and have received their ‘Highly Commended’ for my work.
