2009 - August - Sunset on the cliffs

Graphite and watercolour on tissue paper and PVA on cartridge paper

This was inspired by the cracks on the cliffs in St Ives bay at sunset.

The sky begs to be painted here at sunset when the sun, sea and sky turns wonderful golds, oranges and crimsons. I take my camera, sketchbook and a big flask of hot chocolate and settle down for the evening - much better than TV!!

As before I poured watercolour paint over in prussian blue and cad yellow. Then worked into the Cartridge paper with oil pastels followed by acrylic paint.

One of two works. I used two types of paper – watercolour paper and heavy cartridge paper, 2 colours - blues and yellows.

After pouring watercolour over both papers, I worked into the WC paper with

more watercolour paint then with oil and soft pastels and silver acrylic paint.

‘Bubbles’

An ink sketch looking at the connecting points in a group of bubbles. Again, part of a series of work looking at bubbles, (which was inspired by work I did over last summer about the sea.) It is part of a work in process.

‘Bubbles’

Watercolour on paper. Taken from a cropped section of the ink sketch. I love working in watercolour, especially wet in wet – very relaxing!
