From 11th – 26th July there is an exhibition at Selly Manor in Bournville Birmingham by my art club – Studio 302 and I will be displaying some of my work there if anyone lives locally and wants to pop in!

I’m off to Cornwall again for most of the summer, I’ve primed my canvases and sharpened my pencils ready…. if it rains I’ll get lots of work done – if not….. nothing beats sitting in the warm sunshine with a good book!

Watch this space!

Exhibit of Drawings

A collection of my drawings is currently on display in Quinborne Community Centre, Birmingham until 9th March if anyone lives locally and wants to pop in to see. From the 6th April my work will be shown in Harbourne Library, Birmingham until 5th May.

I’m currently working on designing a bespoke series of wedding stationary with art work – so I’m busy painting and drawing church images, flowers etc at the moment for the invites, order of service etc – work I can’t show until after the summer wedding – so watch this space! (also keep an eye on my website – www.juliemeese.co.uk) for updates!) It’s interesting working to order and producing work to match what others have in mind. When they have chosen which piece of art they like I’ll then transfer the images onto the booklets with chosen wording. I hope they like what I do!!!

2008-november-ammbassadors-abstraction5

FOR SALE

Graphite on paper  28 x 12cm

(Double click on on image to see in larger scale)

I wanted to get back to abstraction and this piece was inspired by Holbein the Younger’s painting ’The Ambassadors’  (1533)

I enjoy marking in both graphite and paint and found doing this a pleasant interlude from the deep concentration of my realistic work

Waiting for the boats to come in

2008-2nd-september-seagull-in-mevagissey-harbour-waiting-for-the-fishing-boats-2

FOR SALE

Graphite on paper

This seagull posed very professionally for me on the rocky crop

at the side of mevagissey harbour, he had his eyes fixed on the open sea

as if watching for the fishing boats to come home!

A British harbour or seaside wouldn’t be the same without seagulls -

Mevagissey seagulls love fish and chips – take care or they’ll snatch yours right from your fingers!
